Stock Market Highlights: Indices regain Thursday's losses; Nifty 50 back above 24,100, up 2.6% in two weeks

Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Despite the positive performance of the broader markets today, the midcap index ended flat, in contrast to Nifty’s nearly 1% gain. The Midcap index gained 92 points, finishing at 56,393, while the Nifty Bank index saw a rise of 149 points, closing at 52,056.

Among the top performers, the pharma sector saw significant buying interest, with Cipla, Sun Pharma, and Divi’s Laboratories emerging as the top Nifty gainers. Adani Green posted the biggest single-day gain in a year, surging 20%. Auto stocks, excluding Hero, also saw gains, led by Mahindra & Mahindra, which rose more than 2% ahead of the monthly sales data.

Reliance Industries closed near the day’s highs, with a gain of nearly 2%. Bharti Airtel rose 4% after ICICI Securities upgraded the stock to a ‘Buy’ rating. Life insurance stocks recovered in the final hour of trading, with SBI Life ending 3% off its lows.

The Indian stock market posted gains for the second consecutive week, with the Nifty rising 2.6% over the past two weeks. Most sectoral indices registered gains, with Public Sector Banks emerging as the top gaining sector. Broader markets also outperformed, with the midcap index rising 2%, compared to Nifty’s 1% gain.
