Phil Foden plans to swap soccer boots for this after retirement
Phil Foden, the 24-year-old Manchester City and England soccer star, already has a post-retirement plan, and it’s not what you’d expect.
While most athletes consider coaching or punditry, Foden is planning to dive headfirst into his true passion: fishing.
During the Euros campaign, Foden took time out to indulge in his favorite hobby, and it’s clear the fishing bug has never left him.
Appearing on Korda’s YouTube channel, he shared how exciting it was to reel in his latest catch, saying, “This is me when I retire. A vlog for fishing.”
Foden’s love for the sport started young, with his dad introducing him to fishing when he was just five years old. +
“When I was around five, my old man would always take me and I have loved it ever since. I was just catching whatever really, the smaller fish, then the more times I did it I got into catching the bigger fish, the carp.”
“I go to my local places and catch whatever. It’s the buzz — whatever fishing I am doing I enjoy.”
