Some Social Security recipients will receive two checks in July 2026. Here’s why
Social Security is a necessary source of income for many Americans to cover their living expenses and basic needs.
Each month, the Social Security Administration issues payments to these Americans so they are able to cover their daily expenses, from food and housing to medical care.
Although there are many people who receive Social Security benefits, not everyone knows how their payments are calculated, when they will arrive or how they will change over time.
Here’s what you need to know about when you will receive your July Social Security payments.
When will I get my July Social Security check?
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Month | July |
| Birth day from 1-10 of birth month | will receive Social Security on July 8, 2026 |
| Birth day from 11-20 of birth month | will receive Social Security on July 15, 2026 |
| Birth day from 21-31 of birth month | will receive Social Security on July 22, 2026 |
| SSI Recipients | Will receive their next payment on July 1, 2026, and another payment on July 31, 2026. |
| People who receive SSI and Social Security | Will receive SSI payment July 1, 2026, and Social Security July 2, 2026. |
The Social Security Administration will send your June 2026 check on a specific day of the month depending on your date of birth, according to this calendar.
If your birthday falls on the first through the 10th of the month, for example, you receive your payments on the second Wednesday of the month. Social security check recipients, who fall under this category, should receive their first check by July 8.
If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payments arrive on the third Wednesday of the month. Recipients who fall under this category should receive their check on July 15.
If your birthday falls between the 21st and the 31st, your payments are scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of the month. If so, you will receive your payment on July 22.
Why do Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients get paid twice in July?
The next payment for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients is July 1.
However, SSI recipients will receive a second payment on July 31, 2026, because Aug. 1, the typical payment date, falls on a Saturday when Social Security does not issue payments, according to the Social Security Administration.
This does not mean SSI recipients will receive an extra check in July — rather, it means that they will receive their August payment the month before.
If you began receiving Social Security before May 1997, or if you receive both SSI and Social Security, you will receive SSI on July 1 and Social Security on July 2.
