Travis Kelce’s Future Plans After Taylor Swift Wedding Leaked By ‘Messy’ Friend
Fans are calling one of Travis Kelce‘s friends “messy” after he appeared to hint at the NFL player’s plans for the future after his wedding to Taylor Swift.
After tying the knot with Swift on July 3, Kelce is back to work while gearing up for the start of the upcoming football season with the Kansas City Chiefs on September 14. Kelce is in Florida training with his longtime coach, Andrew Spruill, and former NFL player Cris Carter, who stirred a small controversy when he shared a post alluding to Kelce’s retirement plans.
“Andrew and I started with Travis before his rookie year in the NFL,” Carter wrote in an Instagram post alongside a photo with the Chiefs tight end. “Know the goat is preparing for THE LAST DANCE. Next stop Canton/HOF (Hall of Fame).”
Carter’s post strongly hinted at rumors that Kelce will retire after the upcoming NFL season, a rumor he hasn’t confirmed. Fans sounded off in the comments, criticizing the former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver for alluding to Kelce’s retirement.
“So messy and inappropriate imo for him to write that. It’s NO ONE’S right to say that but Travis’ and now isn’t the time,” wrote one fan.
“[He] hasn’t announced a damn thing. Let the athlete handle their own announcements,” added another.
“These guys have no respect or loyalty to Travis at all they’re just trying to get clout,” another fan commented.
Retirement rumors have followed Kelce for several years now, but he officially confirmed he would play in the 202/27 season when he signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs in March. “Chiefs Kingdom, let’s go baby, it’s official! Excited for 2026 and just excited to put on a Chiefs uniform in front of you guys again,” Kelce said of the news in a clip posted to the team’s Instagram account after the announcement.
When asked about “Oh, I don’t want to cuss in front of everybody, but I love this s–t,” Kelce quipped.
Speculation about Kelce’s future with the NFL comes amid reports that he and Swift are thinking carefully about their next chapter together after getting married. “This is their fresh start,” an insider told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack on July 4. “They’re not building Taylor’s life or Travis’s life anymore. They’re building one life—together…. It’s about finding the place where they’ll celebrate holidays, host friends, raise children, and build a marriage. Every decision is being made together.”
