Aditya Birla SL Gold Fund leads gold fund-of-funds mutual funds in six-month returns; posts -19.2% return
Aditya Birla SL Gold Fund delivered -19.2% returns over the last six months and 31.7% CAGR over three years, according to ACE MF data on July 29.

Among gold fund-of-funds mutual funds that meet the screen used for this ranking, Aditya Birla SL Gold Fund is at the top on six-month returns. The fund delivered -19.2 percent, ahead of Kotak Gold Fund at -19.8 percent and SBI Gold at -20.3 percent, according to ACE MF data on July 29.The ranking considers only schemes with assets under management of at least Rs 1,500 crore. Among the top five funds that meet this criterion, SBI Gold has the largest corpus at Rs 15,294.3 crore.The benchmark comparison is also important. Aditya Birla SL Gold Fund was ahead of its benchmark by 32.2 percentage points on a one-year basis, with the benchmark returning 10.1%. It was also ahead of its benchmark by 29.9 percentage points on a three-year basis, with the benchmark returning 1.7%.The one-month return table also has Aditya Birla SL Gold Fund in front, with the fund delivering 0.4 percent.The three-month ranking gives a different reading. HDFC Gold ETF FoF is ahead on this measure with a return of -3.9 percent.The order changes on a three-year basis. SBI Gold delivered the strongest return among these five schemes at 31.9 percent.Looking at more than one return period gives investors a fuller picture.
