The Indian stock market extended its decline for a third straight session on Wednesday, with the Sensex ending slightly lower while the Nifty 50 posted a sharper fall, as rising bond yields continued to weigh on investor sentiment.

The Sensex fell nearly 49 points to close at 72,480, while the Nifty 50 declined around 96 points to end at 22,620. Broader markets, however, bucked the trend, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices gaining up to 0.3%.
