Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs bleed $1.22 billion in a single week
US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds lost more than $1.22 billion in net withdrawals during the trading week of October 5-9, 2026.
The reversal hit both of crypto’s flagship ETF categories at once. Bitcoin funds recorded their weakest week since late June. Ethereum products posted their largest weekly withdrawal since January 2026.
Breaking down the outflows
Bitcoin ETFs saw net redemptions of roughly $679 million to $681 million over the week. That ended a three-week streak of inflows for the group.
The heaviest damage landed midweek. Bitcoin products saw their largest single-day exit then, with redemptions topping somewhere between $484 million and $487 million.
Ethereum ETFs had their own rough stretch. They shed around $542 million across five consecutive days of outflows.
That figure marks the biggest weekly withdrawal for Ether products since January 2026. The selling also pushed their losing streak to nine consecutive negative sessions.
Added together, the Bitcoin and Ethereum figures came to approximately $1.22 billion in combined net outflows for the week.
BlackRock in the middle of it
The largest issuer in the space was also at the center of the withdrawals. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and its Ethereum counterpart (ETHA) accounted for significant portions of the total outflows.
Solana ETFs saw around $25 million in outflows, ending a 14-week inflow streak.
How the year looks so far
For context, this week did not erase the year. Year-to-date inflows for both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs remain positive despite the latest redemptions.
The withdrawals arrived amid ongoing regulatory developments and market volatility.
What this means for investors
On the cautious side, the breadth of the selling matters. Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana products all saw net outflows in the same window, and Ether funds extended their losing run to nine sessions.
ETF redemptions can also add pressure to spot markets. When investors pull money out, issuers may need to reduce their underlying holdings.
The concentration of Bitcoin outflows in a single midweek session is also worth noting. A large one-day exit can reflect a handful of big holders repositioning.
For Ethereum, the picture looks a little less comfortable. Its outflow streak was longer, and the weekly total was its largest since January.
The end of Solana’s 14-week inflow streak adds another layer.
