[Today's Stock Market Highlights] Oriental Land Soars 8.45%! AEON and NTT Also Rise, What Will Happen Next Week?
Friday, October 30, 2026
Stock investing is truly interesting.
Well, maybe it’s only interesting when stock prices go up (laughs).
Last week, there were days when the three stocks I’m watching—Oriental Land, AEON, and NTT—all fell together.
However, on Friday, October 30th, they all rose together.
Oriental Land, in particular, saw a staggering 8.45% surge compared to the previous day!
What on earth happened?
This time, I’d like to look back at last weekend’s stock prices and consider the points to watch for next week.
🔳 First, let’s check the stock prices for October 30th
Friday’s closing prices were as follows:
Stock Closing Price Change from Previous Day
Oriental Land 3,438 yen +8.45%
AEON 1,200.5 yen +2.78%
NTT 173.3 yen +1.05%
All three stocks were in the green.
Among them, Oriental Land’s rise was outstanding.
It rose by 268 yen in a single day from the previous day’s closing price of 3,170 yen.
Moreover, it hit 3,450 yen during trading hours, marking a new year-to-date high.
A stock price that was in the 3,100 yen range just a few days ago suddenly broke into the 3,400 yen range.
🔳 Oriental Land—From profit decline forecast to record-high profits!
There is a clear reason for this surge.
It is the interim financial results announced on October 29th.
Oriental Land significantly revised its full-year earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 upward.
The operating profit forecast was raised from approximately 160.7 billion yen to approximately 185.4 billion yen.
The revision rate is a 15.4% increase.
Furthermore, although they had previously expected a decline in profit compared to the previous fiscal year, this revision now projects a 10.1% increase.
If realized, operating profit is expected to reach a record high.
With the Tokyo DisneySea 25th Anniversary event and other factors performing well, the annual visitor forecast was also raised from 28 million to 28.5 million.
In addition, the annual dividend forecast was increased from 16 yen to 18 yen!
Improvements in business performance and the expansion of shareholder returns were announced simultaneously.
It’s understandable why the stock price would rise.
🔳 Even so, my unrealized losses haven’t disappeared (laughs)
Actually, I purchased Oriental Land at a fairly high price.
So, hearing that it rose by 8.45% makes me happy, of course.
However, unfortunately, it still hasn’t reached my purchase price.
Even though it rose by 268 yen in a single day.
The news that a stock price has risen significantly and whether I have made a profit are separate issues.
Admittedly, this time the rise wasn’t just based on speculation.
Earnings forecasts actually improved, and a dividend increase was announced.
As a shareholder, I want to look forward to future profit growth.
However, large-scale investments like the Disney Cruise are also ahead.
Beyond just increasing sales, can they generate profits commensurate with the investment?
I want to continue to monitor this.
🔳 AEON—Recovered to the 1,200 yen range!
AEON also performed well on Friday.
The closing price was 1,200.5 yen.
That’s a 2.78% increase from the previous day.
Since it hit a year-to-date low of 1,101 yen on October 14th, that’s a recovery of about 9%.
AEON’s interim financial results showed increased revenue and profit.
Operating revenue was up 13.8% year-on-year, and operating profit was up 10.7%.
Furthermore, on October 29th, they announced the full-scale operation of a next-generation automated logistics base in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture.
With labor shortages becoming serious, logistics automation is a critical management issue.
However, it’s unclear whether these efforts directly led to this stock price increase.
One reason I pay attention to AEON is the shareholder benefit program.
The refund on shopping amounts via the Owner’s Card is likely attractive to those who use AEON regularly.
That said, it’s dangerous to judge an investment solely on shareholder benefits.
If you save a few thousand yen through benefits, it’s meaningless if the stock price drops by tens of thousands of yen.
Ultimately, I think how much profit can be generated from the core business is what’s important.
🔳 NTT—Will AI technical capabilities be reflected in the stock price?
NTT also rose on October 30th.
Closing at 173.3 yen, up 1.05% from the previous day.
NTT has recently had a series of announcements regarding AI and communication technologies.
These include voice dialogue AI that achieves natural conversation, cloud services for businesses, security technologies, and IOWN.
Technically, it’s very interesting.
Voice dialogue AI, in particular, has the potential to significantly change operations such as call centers.
However, every time I see a technology announcement, I want to confirm one more thing.
So, how much money will it make?
Because having excellent technology and succeeding as a business are separate issues.
Interim financial results are scheduled for November 4th.
To what extent are AI-related initiatives contributing to business growth?
I want to pay attention to this along with future profit forecasts and shareholder returns.
🔳 Also pay attention to dividends and shareholder benefits
Let’s organize shareholder returns, not just stock prices.
Oriental Land’s annual dividend forecast has been increased to 18 yen.
Furthermore, as a special shareholder benefit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of listing, shareholders who held 100 shares or more as of September 30, 2026, are scheduled to receive one Disney Park passport.
AEON’s annual dividend forecast is 15 yen. The Owner’s Card shopping refund system also continues.
NTT’s annual dividend forecast is 5.4 yen. There is also a d-point gift system for shareholders, but be aware that it is not a system you receive every year.
I want to think about this by including the utility value of benefits and the company’s growth potential, rather than just comparing dividend yields.
🔳 What will happen next week? Focus on November 2nd and 4th
The stock market next week is a bit irregular.
Monday, November 2nd, is normal trading.
Tuesday, November 3rd, is Culture Day, so the market is closed.
And on Wednesday, November 4th, NTT’s interim financial results are scheduled.
Regarding Oriental Land, I’m curious how the stock price will move after Friday’s surge.
Since it rose more than 8% in a single day, it wouldn’t be surprising if profit-taking selling occurs.
On the other hand, there is also a possibility that the upwardly revised profit forecast will be appreciated and it will be bought further.
I don’t know which one it will be.
Can AEON maintain the 1,200 yen range?
What kind of numbers will NTT announce in its financial results?
Next week also seems to have many highlights.
🔳 Stock investing is a game of reading corporate growth and market expectations
Seeing Oriental Land’s surge this time, I felt it once again.
Stock prices don’t move based solely on current performance.
What is the market expecting, and did actual performance exceed or fall short of those expectations?
That is what is important.
That’s why stock prices can fall even if performance is good.
Conversely, even for companies whose stock prices were sluggish, if future prospects improve, they can suddenly rise.
I have failed at investing many times in the past.
Even so, researching company news and financial results is interesting.
Because stock investing is also about thinking about the future of companies.
Now, how far will Oriental Land recover?
Can AEON continue to rise?
Can NTT’s financial results meet market expectations?
I intend to continue observing next week as well.
