Social Security benefits are being sent out on Tuesday, November 3: who gets a payment tomorrow?
This midweek, some benefits recipients in the United States are to get their latest monthly payment from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Social Security benefits are to be sent out to two groups of claimants, in what is the opening payment run on the SSA’s distribution schedule for November 2026.
Who gets Social Security benefits on Tuesday, November 3?
- Certain long-term beneficiaries
The SSA is due to issue Social Security benefits to individuals who started receiving their monthly payments before May 1997.
- Double recipients: Social Security + SSI
Tuesday is also November’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who are simultaneously signed up to the Supplemental Security Income scheme (SSI).
A benefit for certain low-income people who are over 65 or have a disability, SSI differs from Social Security as it is needs-based. Eligibility does not depend on a claimant’s employment record.
Worth an average of $735.86 per month, according to the SSA’s latest statistics, SSI was to be issued for November on Friday, October 30.
How much are Social Security payments?
- Retirement: $2,034.54
- Disability: $1,499.41
- Survivor: $1,636.31
(Average monthly benefit, per SSA stats.)

Benefits to rise in 2027
In October, the SSA announced that it is to raise Social Security and SSI payments by 3.6% in 2027.
Across all Social Security beneficiaries, this means an increase of about $70 on the current monthly average benefit, which stands at $1,943.15. For recipients of retirement benefits, the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) translates into a pay rise of around $75 per month, the SSA says.
At a glance: November’s other Social Security payment dates
Of the 71.6 million Social Security beneficiaries in the U.S., most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. Under this system, an individual’s allotted Wednesday depends on their birthday.
In November, however, the first date in this payment cycle will be brought forward by a day, as Wednesday 11 is the Veterans Day holiday.
November’s birthday-dependent payment cycle:
- Born on 1st to 10th of any month: Tuesday, November 10
- Born on 11th to 20th of any month: Wednesday, November 18
- Born on 21st to 31st of any month: Wednesday, November 25
NB: If you get Social Security based on someone else’s work history, the SSA refers to the other person’s date of birth.
How does the Social Security Administration make payments?
- Direct deposit
Social Security beneficiaries can provide the SSA with their bank details using the online “my Social Security” tool.
- Direct Express
Benefits can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for federal payments. You can sign up for the card at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.
