Clay Travis explains why ‘stock market is soaring’ after Democrats’ dominance despite being ridiculously wrong about midterms
Conservative sports analyst and political pundit Clay Travis spent Election Day insisting that the blue wave the polls had been anitcipating wasn’t actually going to arrive. Travis was confident, claiming that he had the numbers to justify that confidence. As the polls began closing , however, it quickly became apparent how wildly off the mark he was.
By the time the last of the projections were being made, Travis’ predictions turned out to be laughably incorrect.
Travis made his midterm predictions on Sunday, and he wasn’t overly concenred with a significant Blue victory at the polls on Tuesday, claiming that “polls are badly biased against Republicans for the 16th out of the past 17 election cycles.”

“I nailed all my election predictions in 2024, not so much in 2022. Here are my 2026 calls with a reminder that all of you should get out and vote. Byron Donalds wins Florida Gov comfortably,” Travis wrote. “Senate: Ken Paxton wins Texas, Mike Rogers wins Michigan, Jon Husted wins Ohio, Ashley Hinson wins Iowa, Susan Collins wins Maine, the real Dan Sullivan wins Alaska, Kansas, South Carolina & Nebraska aren’t close, Republicans win senate races easily in those states.”
When Tuesday, Election Day, arrived, he doubled down.
“It’s 1 pm eastern and no blue wave has shown up at all on Election Day so far. Keep voting big, Republicans! Flood the polls! Make the MSNBC and CNN employees cry on air tonight!” Travis wrote.
“The data so far, and again, I am speaking at 3 PM Eastern, a little bit after now, there’s no blue wave. A blue wave has not materialized in the country so far,” he said in a video.

“If you look at the numbers coming out of Arizona, if you look at the numbers coming out of Nevada, there’s going to be a lot of close races. But there has not been a tremendous blue wave, certainly no blue tsunami,” he continued. “Maybe independent voters are going to break in a certain way. But to me, I gave you my predictions yesterday. I think Republicans are gonna do pretty well.”
Ultimately, the blue wave showed up in a major way, as Democrats won control of the House, with NBC News later projecting that they’d won the Senate as well to attain full control of Congress. The Democrats were so dominant that they won red strongholds such as Kansas and Texas. Even Mississippi remained in play as of Wednesday afternoon.
As wrong as he was, Travis is still giving his “expert” analysis. On Wednesday, which opened as an incredible day for the stock market following Tuesday’s results, Travis gave his take on why the market was doing so well.
“The stock market is soaring today because the truth is most business people would rather politicians do nothing and with gridlock guaranteed for the next two years they will get their wish,” Travis posted on X.

It’s clear Travis has zero intention of giving any credence to the notion that the country may simply be excited about having new goverance after two year’s of the Republicans having total control in Washington D.C. Now, it’ll be on President Trump and Congress to work together to avoid the gridlock that Travis claims businesses are excited about.
