When are Social Security and SSI going out in November 2026? Full benefits payment schedule
With November 2026 now well underway, the U.S.’s Social Security Administration (SSA) has so far completed two of its five payment runs for this month, as it sends out benefits for the following programs in the United States:
Who has already been paid benefits for Nov. 2026?
- October 30: SSI beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of the SSI scheme were actually issued their November payment slightly before the month began: on Friday, October 30.
A benefit for low-income, low-resource people who are over the age of 65 or have a disability, SSI is normally distributed on the first day of each month. However, November’s benefit was paid early, as this month began on a Sunday.
The SSI program, which has just over 7.3 million recipients across the U.S., offers an average monthly benefit of $735.86, per the SSA’s latest statistics.
Although SSI is administered by the SSA, it is separate to the Social Security scheme. Unlike Social Security, eligibility does not depend on an applicant’s work record.
- November 3: Dual beneficiaries/certain long-standing Social Security recipients
On Tuesday, November 3, the SSA distributed this month’s Social Security benefits to recipients who began claiming their payments before May 1997.
November 3 is also this month’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who concurrently claim SSI.

When does November 2026’s three-Wednesdays cycle begin?
Of the 71.6 million Americans who claim Social Security benefits, most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. These recipients’ allocated Wednesday depends on their birthday.
However, November’s three-Wednesdays cycle comes with a calendar quirk. Because of the Veterans Day holiday, the first of these distribution dates has been pushed forward to the nearest working day: Tuesday, November 10.
November’s full three-Wednesdays cycle is:
- Born on 1st-10th of any month: Social Security paid out on Tuesday, November 10
- Born on 11th-20th of any month: Social Security paid out on Wednesday, November 18
- Born on 21st-31st of any month: Social Security paid out on Wednesday, November 25
NB: If you claim Social Security benefits based on someone else’s employment history, the SSA uses the other person’s date of birth to determine your payment Wednesday.
How much are monthly Social Security benefits?
- Retirement: $2,034.54
- Disability: $1,499.41
- Survivor: $1,636.31
(Average benefit, per statistics published by the SSA in October 2026.)

Benefit amounts to get COLA increase in 2027
In October, the SSA announced that Social Security and SSI recipients are to get a pay rise next year, as part of the agency’s annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). Starting with January’s payments, 76 million benefits recipients are to see a 3.6% increase in their monthly check.
How does the Social Security Admin pay benefits?
- Benefits can be transferred into a Social Security or SSI beneficiary’s bank account by direct deposit
- Money can be paid onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for federal disbursements
