The sharemarket’s fortunes will be decided at polling stations across America this week as the US election result challenges central bank policy meetings for the attention of the world’s traders.

The Federal Reserve, Reserve Bank of Australia and the Bank of England meet this week, where all but the RBA is widely expected to ease monetary settings.
