Election 2024 Live Updates and Results: Trump Wins Presidency After Clinching Battleground States
Ahead of his presumptive presidential win, Donald Trump delivered a speech at Mar-a-Lago, promising that he’s “going to fix everything about our country.”
“This will be the golden age of America,” he said.
The former president boasted about winning both the electoral and popular votes as the crowd chanted, “USA! USA!” (The final results of the election are still being tallied.)
“Winning the popular vote,” Trump claimed, “was a great feeling of love.”
Trump said he’s been given a “powerful mandate” with the GOP’s newfound control of the Senate: “We all won with the MAGA movement.” The former president also predicted that the party would preserve its majority in the House.
Later on in his address, Trump thanked his family, including Melania Trump. He also tipped his hat to running mate JD Vance, whom he called a “feisty guy.”
“I’ve said, ‘Go into the enemy camp,’” Trump said of Vance’s many appearances in liberal media. “He just goes ‘Okay.’”
Trump called Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO turned Trump surrogate, a “star” of the MAGA movement and one of the “most important” people in the country. He likewise praised Dana White, the CEO of UFC, whom he invited to the stage to speak.
Of RFK Jr., who is poised to play a health-related role in a second Trump administration, the former president promised that “he’s going to make America healthy again.”
