Rihanna fuels retirement rumors by saying music got her ‘attention’ but ‘God had other plans’ for her
Rihanna fueled retirement rumors while deejaying at a Fenty Beauty event in her native Barbados.
While speaking to a packed crowd, who was there to celebrate the opening of a Fenty store, the singer said, “Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me.”
While the “Diamonds” hitmaker previously promised to release new music in the future, fans of the singer took her message as a sign that her retirement from the recording industry could be coming sooner rather than later.
“I was able to create in ways that were very sincere and genuine, organic, and authentic to the things that I love. So, it doesn’t even feel like a job,” the “Love on the Brain” hitmaker, who sported a brown ruched midi-length dress, continued in her speech.
After a video from the event started circulating on social media, fans of the singer quickly commented on her potential retirement.
“She tryna tell yall that she not releasing any music baby,” one social media user commented.
Someone else shared: “It’s a wrap. Hang up y’all hopes and dreams. Our girl is at home with her babies teaching them prayers.”
“What Rihanna is actually tryn to say is, the only music she is releasing 4 now is babies,” a third user said. “First album #Rza, Second album is #RiotRose proof is in the clapping 😂😂👏🏽👏🏽 3rd Album is 🫅🏼loading coming to a screen near you in 9 months. It will be worth the wait. Promise.”
Rihanna previously held the title of the richest female musician with an estimated net worth of $1.4 million thanks to her successful Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty lines.
She was surpassed by Taylor Swift for the title last month, as the pop star’s net worth jumped to an estimated $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.
The financial magazine reported that Swift obtained the top spot due to her music and live shows.
