Hungary Keeps Key Interest Rate Unchanged After Inflation Spike
Hungary kept its main interest rate unchanged for a fourth month as a jump in inflation prevented a return to monetary easing for the recession-hit economy.
The National Bank of Hungary held its main interest rate at 6.5%, matching the estimate of all 25 economists in a Bloomberg survey. That left it even with Romania for the highest key rate in the European Union. A statement and a briefing will follow at 3 p.m. in Budapest.
