However, Nifty Bank rose 249 points to 51,597 and the Midcap Index gained 109 points to 52,162, supported by gains in financials.

The Sensex declined 322 points to 76,295, while the Nifty fell 82 points to 23,250. However, Nifty Bank rose 249 points to 51,597 and the Midcap Index gained 109 points to 52,162, supported by gains in financials.
IT stocks led the decline, with Nifty IT dropping 4%, as global growth concerns weighed on sentiment. TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra were among the top losers, falling 3-4%, while midcap IT stocks like Persistent, Coforge, and KPIT Tech saw sharper corrections of up to 10%.
On the other hand, Nifty Pharma rose 2%, benefiting from exemption from US tariffs and helping limit broader market losses. Industrial stocks also provided support.
