Gov. Evers visits Lippert Components to highlight investments into the WI workforce
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Governor Tony Evers is touring the state, highlighting investments into Wisconsin’s workforce.
The Governor and Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Amy Pechacek visited Lippert Components Inc. in Eau Claire Monday to learn about how Lippert is using a $400,000 fast forward worker training grant from the DWD and Chippewa Valley Technical College to train more people in manufacturing roles.
“We want people like that to stay in Wisconsin and expand. It’s nice to see all those pieces working together,” said Evers.
Evers said the state needs to invest in the workforce in order to meet the needs of a 21st-century economy.
In the meantime, haggling over the governor’s budget continues.
The state’s republican controlled budget committee last week voted down more than 600 budget proposals.
