Steven Spielberg clears his stance on retirement plans from Hollywood
Steven Spielberg has recently opened up about his plans of retirement from Hollywood.
The Avatar director shared he won’t ever retire at the Universal theatre dedication for his legacy in the industry.
After accepting the honour, Steven spoke up at the 50th anniversary celebration as he declared, “I’m making a lot of movies and I have no plans…ever…to retire.”
The legendary movie-maker mentioned that he witnessed a lot of changes for the studio during his decades-long tenure but he called the current state as a “rebirth”.
“I don’t mean Jurassic World Rebirth opening July 2,” he clarified as he plugged his new movie he produced.
The director said, “I mean the rebirth of the belief in the people that work as a family, as a community, as a team to make good thing happen.”
Interestingly, Steven also described the “studio’s era of changing corporate owners as a time of many fathers”.
It is pertinent to note that a replica of director’s movies, Jaws or Jurassic Park ride always draws attention of people at Universal L.A. theme park.
Donna Langley, chairman of NBC Universal Entertainment, praised Steven’s impact on the studio as well as on the world of movies and Hollywood.
“It’s not just a place that is founded on his extraordinary legacy but it is a place of future hopes and dreams of movie-makers, of storytellers who are you going to take this company into the next 100 years, and the 100 after that,” she stated.
In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Steven explained that he has “an appetite for a Western which I will someday hopefully do”.
“It’s something that’s eluded me for all of these decades,” he added.
For the unversed, Steven made his debut with 1971 movie, Duel and later he went on to direct over 30 movies and produced hundreds more, many of them for Universal, notably, the first studio that took a chance on a movie-maker.
