Orange Beach police chief announces retirement plans
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) — Orange Beach Police Department Chief Steve Brown has announced his plan to retire later this year.

Brown said in a letter to residents that he plans to retire on Sept. 1, 2025.

“Serving the people of Orange Beach has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” said Brown. “From my early days as a patrol officer to my current role as Chief of Police, I have witnessed the growth and transformation of our city and our department.”

Brown said he has always felt called to serve and is proud of his fellow police officers at OBPD.
“As I step into retirement, I do so with deep gratitude — for the experience, the friendships, and the opportunity to make a difference. I will always carry with me the values and lessons learned over these past three decades,” said Brown.

He closed his letter by thanking Orange Beach residents for allowing him to serve.
