Federal government posts June surplus, helped by rising tariff collections

The U.S. surplus amounted to a little more than $27 billion, a stark contrast to the $316 billion deficit in May. This development brought the fiscal year-to-date deficit to $1.34 trillion, marking a 5% increase from the previous year. However, with calendar adjustments, the deficit slightly decreased by 1%.
