European Stocks Advance on Flurry of Earnings; SocGen Jumps
European stocks gained following upbeat earnings reports on one of the busiest days of the year for corporate results. Societe Generale SA gained 6.5% after boosting investor payouts.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index was 0.4% higher by 8:18 a.m. in London. Tech stocks were among the biggest gainers, supported by positive earnings from Microsoft Corp. and Meta Platforms Inc. in Wednesday after-hours trading. Mining stocks were the biggest laggards, after US President Donald Trump imposed a 50% tariff on some copper imports.
