Solflare’s rebrand aims to restore trust in cryptocurrency
The cryptocurrency market of 2025 is a curious paradox – a trillion-dollar ecosystem built on promises of decentralisation and transparency, yet plagued by distrust and skepticism. While the industry is currently enjoying a period of stability, for many, crypto still feels less like the future of finance and more like a volatile experiment.
One platform seeking to restore people’s faith is Solflare, founded in 2021 as a secure wallet for the Solana blockchain. Known for its lightning-fast transactions and low fees, Solana has grown into one of the most widely used blockchains in the world. Solflare’s mission is simple yet ambitious: make interacting with Solana safe, seamless and accessible to everyone.
With over 2.5 million users and more joining daily, Solflare recognised that building trust wasn’t just about robust technology, it was about identity. Looking to expand beyond its core crypto-native audience, Solflare partnered with London-based branding agency Ragged Edge to reimagine its image and message.
Alongside a bold new logotype inspired by the script style found in the earliest bank charters, the team at Ragged Edge delivered a suite of eye-catching illustrations combining traditional engraving and symbols commonly found on old money – think crowns, castles, shields, keys and locks.
These reclaimed symbols sit at the heart of Solflare’s rebrand, harking back to a time when banks were the most trusted institutions around. “The new identity borrows from early financial codes and refines them for a digital era,” says Luke Woodhouse, executive creative director at Ragged Edge. “A far cry from the clichéd aesthetic that has come to define the space.”
The brand’s voice has been given an upgrade, too. One that’s firmly grounded in crypto’s spirit of optimism and freedom, but with a cooler, more determined edge. “It blends the philosophical wisdom of the classics with the lyricism of contemporary rap,” explains Woodhouse.
This vision became the foundation for what Solflare now calls the Stronghold of the Free – a metaphor that blends autonomy, community and security. In trading parlance, the phrase ‘hold strong’ is a rallying cry during market volatility, and here it’s transformed into a unifying brand ethos.
“Reimagining the wallet as a stronghold unlocked a rich territory for the brand,” says Christy Madden, strategy director at Ragged Edge. “It resonates with both crypto newcomers and seasoned traders.”
Following the rebrand, a digital launch campaign generated 44.5m impressions. Crucially, the crypto community has given its seal of approval too, generating thousands of memes and, in the case of one enthusiastic fan, immortalising the logo as a tattoo. Since launch, Solflare has gained 1.5 million new users, marking a 75% increase.
For Filip Dragoslavić, Solflare’s co-founder and co-CEO, this transformation was about more than the numbers: “Revamping our brand so that it reflects our mission and meets the expectations of our highly engaged community was no easy feat, but they nailed it … they’ve breathed new life into Solflare’s personality and brought it in line with the future we’re building.”
