29 equity mutual funds deliver over 20% XIRR on SIP investment in five years
Around 29 equity mutual funds have offered over 20% XIRR on the SIP investments made five years ago, an analysis by ETMutualFunds showed. There were 208 funds which have completed five years of existence in the market.
Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund, the topper in the list, offered an XIRR of 25.67% in the last five years on SIP investments. A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 made in this fund would have been Rs 11.16 lakh in the same period.

Bandhan Small Cap Fund posted an XIRR of 25.52% on SIP investments made five years ago. The next two funds were mid cap funds. Invesco India Midcap Fund and HDFC Mid Cap Fund delivered an XIRR of 24.61% and 23.58% in the said time period.
Motilal Oswal Large & Midcap Fund offered an XIRR of 23.25% on the SIP investments made in the said time period. Two mid cap funds – Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund and Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund – delivered an XIRR of 22.72% and 22.69% in the last five years on SIP investments. Quant Small Cap Fund, the largest fund managed by Quant Mutual Fund, posted an XIRR of 21.64% in the mentioned time period. HDFC Flexi Cap Fund, the second largest flexi cap fund, delivered an XIRR of 21.52% on SIP investments in the mentioned period. Nippon India Small Cap Fund, the largest small cap fund based on assets managed, delivered an XIRR of 21.23% on SIP investments made five years ago.
Three funds from ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund – ICICI Pru Focused Equity Fund, ICICI Pru Large & Mid Cap Fund, and ICICI Pru Midcap Fund – offered an XIRR of 20.76%, 20.65%, and 20.62% in the mentioned time period.
The oldest ELSS fund, SBI ELSS Tax Saver Fund, delivered an XIRR of 20.43% on SIP investments in the said time period. HDFC ELSS Tax Saver Fund and Kotak Midcap Fund were the last ones to offer over 20% XIRR in the said time period. The funds gave an XIRR of 20.19% and 20.16% respectively.
Other schemes in the list
Nippon India Value Fund gave an XIRR of 19.69% in the last five years on SIP investments. Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund, the largest active fund and flexi cap fund based on assets managed, gave an XIRR of 17.83% on SIP investments.
Axis Large Cap Fund was the last one to deliver double-digit XIRR on SIP investments made five years ago. The fund gave an XIRR of 10.21% in the said time period.
Five funds gave single-digit XIRR on SIP investments. UTI Flexi Cap Fund gave an XIRR of 9.50% on SIP investments, followed by two funds from Shriram Mutual Fund. Shriram Flexi Cap Fund and Shriram ELSS Tax Saver Fund gave an XIRR of 9.34% and 9.29% respectively in the last five years.

Two focused funds – Axis Focused Fund and Motilal Oswal Focused Fund – gave an XIRR of 9.08% and 8.46% respectively on SIP investments.
