Despite the futures freeze, regular stock trading opened on schedule at 9:30 a.m. ET. The NYSE, Nasdaq and OTC markets will close early at 1 p.m., while eligible options will trade until 1:15 p.m. Bond markets opened at 8 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m., consistent with the holiday calendar published by US exchanges. Before the CME halt, futures trading had been muted: Dow contracts were up 0.11%, the S&P 500 gained 0.1% and Nasdaq 100 futures added 0.18%.
