Dow Jones Today | US Stock Market LIVE Updates: Stock futures slip as oil rebounds; Treasury yields move higher
Dow Jones Today | US Stock Market LIVE Updates: US stock futures declined on Friday morning (March 20) as oil prices resumed their upward move after a brief pullback, reversing earlier signals of a positive start to trading.
Bond markets saw yields move higher across maturities. The two-year Treasury yield rose six basis points to 3.86%. Gold prices held steady but remained on course for their steepest weekly decline since the pandemic period. Brent crude prices showed volatility during the session.
Market sentiment shifted following a report from Axios that the United States is weighing a high-risk plan to take control of Iran’s Kharg Island, a key oil export hub, as part of efforts to pressure Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
In Europe, the Stoxx 600 pared gains to 1% after trading higher earlier. UK government bond yields also surged, with the 10-year gilt yield rising as much as 10 basis points to 4.94%, marking its highest level since the financial crisis. Short-term yields increased further. Money markets are now fully pricing in three interest rate hikes each from the Bank of England and the European Central Bank in 2026.
