What Is Social Security Benefit Cap Proposal And Who Will Be Impacted?
A new proposal aimed at fixing the long-term financial challenges of the Social Security Administration could limit how much some retirees receive each year, but only for a small group of high earners. The plan, put forward by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, introduces what’s being called a “Six-Figure Limit.” It would cap annual Social Security benefits at $100,000 for married couples and $50,000 for individuals. The goal is to slow benefit growth at the top end and help the system remain financially stable.
