Aaron Rodgers’ Post-NFL Retirement Plans Resurface During Bengals Game
Aaron Rodgers has built one of the most storied NFL careers of all time, from his early dominance with the Green Bay Packers to his current stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers. A four-time MVP and Super Bowl XLV champion, Rodgers has long been praised for his precision, football IQ and longevity. Even at 41, he continues to prove his greatness.
In Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals, he put on another masterclass, including throwing a 68-yard touchdown to Pat Freiermuth and nearly leading a late comeback before the Steelers fell 33-31. While the flashes of brilliance remain, Rodgers has already confirmed that the 2025 campaign will likely be his final NFL season, telling ESPN’s Pat McAfee that he was “pretty sure” this would be his final year.

On Thursday, Rodgers displayed the same command that defined his two-decade career. Despite the loss, he passed for 249 yards, moved into fifth place on the NFL’s all-time passing list and reminded fans why he’s still regarded as one of the game’s elite.
As Rodgers’ potential final season continues, sportscasters Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit revealed more details about his post-retirement plans from a recent conversation with him during Thursday’s broadcast:

“He said you won’t hear from me or see me for at least four years,” Herbstreit said.
Michaels responded, “I wouldn’t bet on that, but who knows.”
The exchange hinted that after years in the spotlight, Rodgers intends to step away from public life once his playing days end, which echoes what he said to McAfee over the summer.
For now, though, his focus remains on helping the Steelers chase their first Super Bowl title since February 2009 — and his second overall. Pittsburgh will look to bounce back in Week 8 when they host Rodgers’ former team, the Green Bay Packers, in what could potentially be his final matchup against the franchise that defined his legacy.
