Aldi sales top $13b, parent rakes in $400m in dividends
Sales at Aldi topped $13 billion last year for the first time while its parent group raked in a $400 million dividend, showing the German supermarket chain’s growing popularity with shoppers.
Aldi offers fewer, but cheaper items with its own branded products, compared to larger rivals Coles and Woolworths. The retailer became more popular in the past few years as its two major competitors faced political pressure over allegations of price gouging.
