Amazon’s new Grand Strand facility opens soon. Here’s how you can apply to work there.
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Amazon is getting ready to open a new 165,000-square-foot facility in North Myrtle Beach.
Earlier this month, WMBF News reported when Amazon’s new facility would open – but now that the date is less than a week away, we’re learning it could be pushed back. An Amazon spokesperson could not confirm exactly when opening day will happen.
The spokesperson did, however, provide some new details though about how you could get one of the more than 100 full-time jobs at the facility. The spokesperson confirms hiring is happening now.
There are a few steps you need to follow if you would like to apply:
- Interested candidates can apply online at www.amazon.com/flexiblejobs
- New job postings are released on Friday nights, after 7 p.m. EST.
- Job seekers can sign up for job alerts by texting “HIREME” to 31432 to be notified when new opportunities are added.
According to Amazon, employees currently earn an average pay of over $22 per hour across the company’s customer fulfillment and transportation networks.
The Amazon spokesperson also confirmed that employees have access to comprehensive benefits starting on day one, including full health, vision and dental, 401k with 50% company match and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave.
All Amazon associates go through hours of safety training and ongoing coaching and have access to continuing education opportunities through the company’s upskilling program, Career Choice, in which Amazon will pre-pay tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
Same-day delivery facilities allow Amazon to fulfill, sort, and deliver orders all from one site; making the entire process of delivering customer packages even faster. These facilities are smaller buildings situated close to the large metro areas they serve, which decreases the distance to customers.
Since 2010, Amazon has created 6,500 fulland part-time jobs in South Carolina and invested $7.2 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation to Amazon employees. These investments have contributed an additional $7.4 billion to the South Carolina economy and have helped create more than 7,000 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires in the state.
As of now, it’s unclear how many jobs have been filled and how many remain.
