Apple (AAPL) COO Jeff Williams will step down this month
The 27-year Apple vet will be succeeded by Sabih Khan.
A significant leadership change is coming to Apple as COO Jeff Williams, who has been with the company since the 90s, will leave the position this month. He’ll be replaced by Sabih Khan, Apple’s senior vice president of operations.
Apple announced the upcoming COO change in a Newsroom post. In it, the company says that Khan’s replacement of Williams is a “long-planned succession.” Jeff Williams has been with Apple since 1998, and has worked closely with CEO Tim Cook. Sabih Khan joined Apple in 1995.
“Jeff and I have worked alongside each other for as long as I can remember, and Apple wouldn’t be what it is without him. He’s helped to create one of the most respected global supply chains in the world; launched Apple Watch and overseen its development; architected Apple’s health strategy; and led our world class team of designers with great wisdom, heart, and dedication,” said Tim Cook in a statement.
Jeff Williams will continue to oversee Apple’s design team and will report to Tim Cook until he officially retires from Apple later this year.
