Back to work: Deal reached with southeast AT&T workers
(WSPA) – AT&T has announced that the company has reached two tentative agreements with the Communications Workers of America, bringing the work stoppage to an end on Monday morning.
The first tentative agreement is located in District 9, in the west and covers about 8,400 employees. The second is in District 3, in the southeast and covers about 15,000 employees across nine states.
Employees in both districts primarily work as technician, call centers, machine operators and other customer service roles.
According to the CWA, the new, five-year agreement for District 3 includes “across the board wage increases of 19.33%, with additional 3% increases for Wire Technicians and Utility Operations.”
For District 9 employees, “14.25% [wage] increase exponentially to all titles, compounded to 15.02%.”

“Our goal has been to reach fair agreements that recognize the hard work our employees do to serve our customers with competitive market-based pay and benefits that are among the best in the nation,” Lead Public Relations Manager for AT&T, Ann Elsas, said in a statement. “These agreements also support our competitive position in the broadband industry where we can grow and win against our mostly non-union competitors.”
