CEMA enters monitoring phase for Invest 94L
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) has entered Operating Condition (OPCON) 4, the Monitoring Phase, as Invest 94L tracks closer to the United States, according to a press release.
The path and potential impacts to Chatham County from this storm remain uncertain at this time.
The release states CEMA will continue to monitor changes to the forecast track and ensure storm related information is shared.
All residents are encouraged to monitor Invest 94L, which may become Tropical Storm Imelda, as it develops over the next several days.
The Chatham Emergency Management Agency suggests that now is a good time to review personal emergency plans and replenish or create your emergency kit.
CEMA says, as a common practice, individuals, families, and businesses are encouraged to review general storm preparation activities:
- Monitor local authorities for advice and protective actions.
- Prepare or inspect your emergency supply kit, and do not forget your pet’s kit too. Click to learn more about emergency kits.
- Document important belongings and consider taking pictures or video of your home.
- Inspect your property for loose, lightweight items that could become airborne.
Follow CEMA for updates on social media, visit their website, and sign up for CEMA Alerts at www.ChathamEmergency.org or text CEMA to 77295 to receive up-to-date information as it becomes available.
In WTOC’s most recent tropics report at the time of writing, impacts from Invest 94L are possible for the east coast early next week, but confidence is low on track and intensity.
Right now, the storm still looks to head toward the Carolinas.
