Could the RBA cut interest rates in February?

Interest rate relief in Australia may be coming faster than markets think, according to Barrenjoey strategist Andrew Lilley.

The monthly gauge released during the week revealed an unwelcome 3.5 per cent core, or trimmed mean, inflation over the 12 months to October. The Reserve Bank of Australia is hoping to return core inflation to the 2.5 per cent midpoint of its target band by late 2026.
