Dow closes up 1,500 points after Trump win, notches new record high
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, fueled by Trump’s win, skyrocketed more than 1,500 points on Wednesday.
Wednesday marked the fourth-largest daily point gain in the history of the Dow and the biggest daily point gain outside of the pandemic. The tech-heavy Nasdaq closed up nearly 3%, and the S&P 500 rose about 2.5%. All three stock indices closed at their all-time highs.

Stocks tied to Trump also rose. Tesla’s stock rose 14.6% on Wednesday and was buoyed by Tesla founder Elon Musk’s close ties and support of Trump. The stock for Trump’s own social media company closed up nearly 6% on Wednesday.
