Feds seize $8.2 million in cryptocurrency as Cleveland-based investigation into online cons expands
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Authorities have seized $8.2 million in cryptocurrency during a largescale and growing FBI investigation into online scams that have targeted people here and across the country.
That seizure includes $652,000 that scammers pilfered from a Mentor woman, who lost her life savings, including a retirement account, federal prosecutors wrote in court records in asking a judge to approve the seizure.
