Flood of data this week still leaves Federal Reserve in uncertain territory

Economists and the Fed have been flying mostly blind for two months because of the shutdown-induced halt on data collection and releases, leaving them to rely on less encompassing reports from the private sector. Data has returned in a slow drip since the end of the shutdown last month with the floodgates opening this week.
