Free Staten Island program to explain Social Security benefits application process
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NYC Staten Island will host a free information night on Wednesday, Feb. 12, focused on applying for Social Security benefits.
The event, hosted by Sonya Keyser, an attorney for Keyser and Associates, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sipp Auditorium of Richmond University Medical Center, 355 Bard Ave., West Brighton.
At the event, attendees will learn what they can do to improve their chances of receiving benefits, and what to do if they are denied benefits.
Among the topics to be discussed about the often difficult process are long-term and short-term disability, disability pensions, disability retirement, appeals, reviews and overpayments.
The event is open to the public, and it is not necessary to RSVP.
