Invest 94-L: Tropical wave in the Atlantic likely to develop into tropical depression, NHC says
ABOUT 90 MINUTES, 518 ON FIRST WARNING, METEOROLOGIST KELLIANNE KLASS IS HERE NOW. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THIS FORECAST. GUYS, I KNOW WE’RE ALL WANTING THE FALL TEMPERATURES, BUT NOT YET. NO. YEAH, I MEAN, IT’S SO HOT THIS AFTERNOON. YESTERDAY IT WAS SO HOT AS WELL WITH JUST A LITTLE BIT OF SHOWER ACTIVITY, A LITTLE BIT MORE TOWARDS THE EVENING HOURS. POSSIBLE AGAIN TODAY. BUT I THINK IF YOU HAVE ANY BEACH PLANS, NOT A GREAT BEACH DAY JUST BECAUSE WE’LL HAVE A WESTERLY WIND WHICH WILL PUSH ALL OF THAT ACTIVITY TOWARDS OUR BEACHES. BUT CHECK OUT THESE. FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES UPPER 90S TRIPLE DIGITS. IT’S SEPTEMBER 25TH, NOT JULY 25TH. WE HAVE A LOT OF HEAT IN THE FORECAST TODAY, AND UNFORTUNATELY LOOKS LIKE THAT’S GOING TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. ALREADY THIS MORNING, IT FEELS LIKE 81 DEGREES IN LEESBURG, 76 IN ORLANDO, 78 DEGREES IN SANFORD, 80 DEGREES IN NEW SMYRNA. AND IT FEELS LIKE 77 DEGREES IN WILDWOOD. SO IT IS WARM AS YOU DROP THE KIDS OFF AT THE BUS STOP THIS MORNING. BUT WE ARE DRY. WE ARE CLEAR. WE’RE NOT TRACKING ANY RAIN. A COUPLE OF SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE WHEN YOU PICK THE KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL LATER ON TODAY, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THAT BETTER CHANCE FOR RAINFALL WILL ARRIVE LATE AFTERNOON EARLY EVENING THREE, FOUR, FIVE, 6:00 DEPENDING ON YOUR LOCATION. AND TODAY IT’S ONLY UP TO A 40% COVERAGE OF SHOWERS BY 1230 1:00. OUR WEST AND OUR EAST COAST SEA BREEZE BREEZES ALREADY START TO POP UP A FEW SHOWERS. WE’LL GET A COUPLE OF THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING AROUND THREE AND FOUR, BUT IT’S MORE SO SCATTERED RAIN DURING THIS TIME. THE BETTER CHANCE FOR RAINFALL WILL BE RIGHT AROUND FIVE AND SIX. IN TERMS OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY, AS OUR TWO SEA BREEZES COLLIDE, LINGERING AS LATE AS 830, 9:00 TONIGHT. AND THEN OVERNIGHT. ALL OF THAT RAINFALL THEN BEGINS TO QUICKLY FADE. THEN TOMORROW WE STILL HAVE A WESTERLY WIND, SO YOUR BEACH PLANS WILL BE TRACKING SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, AND TOMORROW WILL BE UP TO ABOUT A 40% COVERAGE AND STILL HOT WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER 80S AND LOW 90S. THEN, LOOKING AHEAD TO YOUR WEEKEND FORECAST 90S CONTINUE WITH ABOUT A 40% COVERAGE OF RAIN BOTH SATURDAY AND ON SUNDAY. THERE’S A FRONT UP TO OUR NORTH. THIS FRONT IS GOING TO STALL, WHICH SHOULD BLOCK THIS AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IN THE BAHAMAS FROM ENTERING FLORIDA. BUT IT’S ALL ABOUT THE TIMING, THE TIMING OF THE FRONT, THE TIMING OF WHEN THIS SYSTEM WILL MAKE ITS WAY CLOSER TO THE BAHAMAS, AS WELL AS THE SOUTHEASTERN COASTLINE OF THE UNITED STATES. THAT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE RIGHT NOW IS INVEST 94 L. THE CENTER IS NOW WORKING ACROSS PARTS OF HISPANIOLA, BRINGING IN SOME HEAVY RAINFALL. DESPITE SOME OF THAT LAND INTERACTION AROUND THE CENTER. THE LATEST THINKING IS ONCE IT MOVES OVER THE BAHAMAS, THAT’S WHEN IT HAS A BETTER POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION. AND UNFORTUNATELY, TRY TO DEVELOP FROM THERE, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE’RE TALKING WATER TEMPERATURES RIGHT OFF THE COASTLINE WELL ABOVE 80 DEGREES. BUT FOR NOW, THEY’RE GIVING IT ABOUT A 80% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. A LOT OF THE TROPICAL MODELS KEEP THE CENTER OF THIS SYSTEM RIGHT OFF OF OUR COASTLINE. SOME MODELS START TO CURVE IT OUT TO SEA, AND OTHER MODELS LIFT THE MOISTURE NORTH INTO THE CAROLINAS. SO IT’S GOING TO BE THIS END RESULT THAT IS KIND OF UNSURE. AND THE MAIN REASON WHY IS BECAUSE OF TROPICAL STORM HUMBERTO. AS THESE SYSTEMS GET CLOSER TO EACH OTHER, THEY INTERACT. SO WE NEED TO SEE HOW THESE TWO SYSTEMS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER. STILL SOME UNKNOWNS THERE, BUT FOR NOW, I DON’T THINK THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE A HUGE IMPACT TO CENTRAL FLORIDA. BUT WHAT IT WILL PROBABLY DO IS JUST INCREASE OUR SURF AS WELL AS OUR RISK OF RIP CURRENTS. OTHERWISE, BECAUSE WE’LL BE ON THE DRIER SIDE OF THAT SYSTEM, WE’RE LOOKI
