Meet Lili Buffett, Warren Buffett’s granddaughter-in-law, involved in humanitarian causes
As one of the world’s most admired billionaires, Warren Buffett has long been synonymous with not just investing brilliance but also generosity. Earlier this year, the 94-year-old Berkshire Hathaway chairman announced that he intends to give away more than 99 percent of his estimated US$152.8 billion fortune to charity. The funds will be overseen by his three children – Susie, Howard, and Peter Buffett – who will have a decade after his passing to distribute the wealth to causes of their choice.
With philanthropy so deeply ingrained in the Buffett family values, it’s little surprise that the next generation is embracing a similar sense of purpose. One such example is Lili Buffett, the granddaughter-in-law of Warren Buffett and the wife of Howard Warren Buffett, son of Howard G. Buffett.
Meet Lili Buffett, the finance-fashion girl
Currently based in New York, Lili Buffett serves as vice-president of investor relations at Power Sustainable, a firm focused on alternative investments in clean energy and infrastructure. Her career began at JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, before she transitioned into the sustainability sector, aligning her work with her broader mission.
In her role at Power Sustainable, Lili helps direct investment toward high-impact environmental solutions, working closely with institutions and family foundations. “I cultivate deep, long-term partnerships with institutional investors, philanthropic families, and foundations aligned with Power Sustainable’s mission to catalyse capital towards global clean energy and infrastructure solutions,” she explained.
Philanthropic work
Lili’s commitment to social good goes far beyond her professional life. Since her days at Columbia University, where she studied economics and philosophy, she has been passionate about driving progress on major humanitarian issues including poverty reduction, gender equality, and accessible healthcare. She previously served on the Goalkeepers Advisory Board at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation until 2022 and is currently a board advisor at the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute.
She has also been a vocal supporter of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, underlining her longstanding focus on global equity and environmental resilience.
Beyond boardrooms and advisory panels, Lili Buffett is also known for her chic personal style. Her Instagram feed is proof of her flair for bold yet elegant looks. “I always make a point to embrace my femininity,” she told Bal Harbour magazine. Her wardrobe includes pieces from designers like Johanna Ortiz, Agua Bendita, Zimmermann, and Carolina Herrera, labels known for their sophisticated and often whimsical aesthetic.
A mother of one and a self-described “beauty junkie,” Lili Buffet is seamlessly juggling the worlds of finance, philanthropy, and fashion.
