Mexican official says country seeks partner prosperity, not adversary, in trade war
SPRINGFIELD — Mexican businesses did $7.6 billion in import and export business with Massachusetts last year, making it the state’s second largest international trading partner while creating or supporting 121,000 jobs.
All that shared prosperity — in industries ranging from grocery store produce to aerospace and automotive — could be at risk in a trade war sparked by the 25% tariffs incoming President Donald Trump is talking about imposing on Mexico and on Canada, said Alberto Fierro, the counsel general representing the Mexican government in New England.
