Ozzy Osbourne Reveals His Retirement Plans After Final Gig
Ozzy Osbourne, 76, the wild frontman of Black Sabbath, isn’t so wild anymore after suffering from a spinal injury and Parkinson’s.
However, he’s not planning on lying on his back when he retires after his final show at Villa Park in Birmingham this July. Recently, he opened up about his retirement plans.
A Dream Retirement – The Simple Lifestyle
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the aging rock legend revealed his dream of swapping screaming crowds for a peaceful life with ponies, chickens, and a pack of rescue dogs. After decades of chaos, he’s ready to enjoy a quieter existence with his family.
“I want to open a dog rescue center and a horse rescue center,” Ozzy declared. He sees a rural haven filled with animals, where he can trade tour buses for muddy boots. “Get some ponies and chickens, and a million dogs,” he added.
On the side, he’s also planning to keep things lively by yelling at neighbors now and then. Clearly, the Prince of Darkness hasn’t lost his edge.
Wanting More At-Home Time
Ozzy’s shift comes from a deep desire to stay close to home. “I’m kind of a homebody,” he admitted. “I never go out. I never hang out in bars – I don’t drink.” After years of battling addiction and health issues, he’s done with the rockstar lifestyle.
“What the f–k is out there for me?” he asked. Shopping with his wife, Sharon, drives him up the wall. “I feel like stabbing myself in the neck after half an hour,” he quipped.
His grandkids are the real pull. “It’s time for me to spend some time with my grandkids,” Ozzy said. “I don’t want to die in a hotel room somewhere.
Rescue Center Is A Good Thing
The man who once bit the head off a bat now craves bedtime stories, furbabies, and school pickups. Actually, this isn’t completely new. Ozzy’s always been a family man at heart, raising kids with Sharon despite his wild past.
The rescue center is his big dream. Dogs and horses, animals he’s always loved (apart from the bat, presumably), will get a second chance under his care. Hopefully, this will keep him busy while letting him give back.
Rock fans can’t imagine Ozzy trading his leather jackets for overalls, but he’s serious. “I want to spend the rest of my life with my family,” he reiterated. But, the downside is, he’s not fit, and needs a trainer to help him, as he can hardly walk.
As Ozzy steps off the stage for the last time, he’s planning to move on to less heavy metal and more sunsets by the hay bales. Fans will miss his manic energy, but they’re rooting for him.
The question is, will he live long enough to enjoy his retirement dream? On Reddit this past weekend, when u/BrownAndYellow wondered which celebrity would die next, Ozzy Osbourne was top of the list.
