Plans for Goldberg's WWE retirement match & run: Report
The WWE Hall of Famer has been training for his final match!
WCW & WWE legend, Bill Goldberg, is officially set to retire from professional wrestling in 2025. The Hall of Famer confirmed last month that he’s officially training for his long-awaited retirement match, which is set to happen before the end of 2025.
The WWE Hall of Famer had earlier revealed that WWE’s former boss, Vince McMahon, promised him a retirement match and a proper send-off.
Goldberg’s last WWE appearance was the Bad Blood 2024 PLE, where he was involved in a heated face-off with the then World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, who had pretty harsh words for the legend. However, his last in-ring appearance in the promotion was in 2022, at the Elimination Chamber, where he lost to the then-Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns.
The Hall of Famer was scheduled for a return on the January 27 show of Monday Night Raw, which was held in Atlanta, Georgia. Goldberg has a deep relationship with the city, having played for the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) in the 1990s and later becoming a top star in WCW.
Gunther will likely be Goldberg’s opponent in his final WWE match
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, Goldberg is likely set for a match against Gunther, with the former World Heavyweight Champion being considered for the legend’s final bout.
The report further adds that currently, the match is still under discussion, and while no additional details are available, it’s being seriously considered.
Additionally, WrestleVotes reported that the Hall of Famer’s name has been brought up in both creative and marketing teams, which likely points towards his inevitable return for the first time since Bad Blood 2024.
“According to multiple sources, Goldberg’s name has been floated internally within WWE over the past week — the first time since his Bad Blood appearance and his interactions with Gunther. Feels like the inevitable return is nearing.”
