“Fortunately, I haven’t had many injuries, so it’s not like I have to retire right now. But nothing lasts forever. If you ask me about the next 10 years, I have my doubts, but if you ask me about five years, maybe. You never know what tomorrow brings, so I just have to do what I can now.”
Nakamura reflected on honoring Hiroshi Tanahashi and AJ Styles at WWE’s Japan shows.
“On the first day, I did what I needed to do and said what I needed to say. On the second day, I’m glad I could support AJ’s special feelings as a friend and a rival. (AJ) isn’t retiring today or tomorrow, though.” [H/T: Fightful]
Reports suggest NJPW may want him to face Hiroshi Tanahashi in his farewell match at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in 2026. During the interview, Nakamura also talked about his biggest goal that he still has in WWE.
