Social Security is issuing payments of $2,000 on average today, Wednesday, June 25: find out who gets a check
Many recipients of Social Security retirement benefits in the U.S. are set to get their latest monthly payout.
Today – Wednesday, June 25 – the Social Security Administration (SSA) is to issue the next round of retirement checks on this month’s payment schedule.
The SSA is also due to distribute Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and survivor benefits today.
Who gets a Social Security check today, Wednesday, June 25?
Of the approximately 70 million recipients of retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits in the U.S., most get their money on one of three Wednesdays each month.
Each beneficiary’s designated Wednesday is decided by their date of birth.
Today, the SSA is to send out benefits checks to recipients whose birthday falls on the 21st to the 31st of each month.
This is the last of the SSA’s Wednesday payments for June, after the agency also distributed benefits on the 11th and the 18th.
Wednesday payment schedule – June 2025:
- Weds., June 11: Recipients born on 1st to 10th
- Weds., June 18: Recipients born on 11th to 20th
- Weds., June 25: Recipients born on 21st to 31st
Who is paid outside of the three-Wednesdays timeline?
If you began claiming retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits before May 1997, you are typically paid on the third of each month, irrespective of your date of birth.
What’s more, recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) – a separate SSA benefit for low-income individuals who are over 65 or have a disability – normally get their check on the first of each month.
If you receive both SSI and any of the SSA’s retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits, you generally get the former on the first and the latter on the third.
However, as June began on a Sunday, this month’s SSI checks were sent out ahead of schedule: payment was moved up to the nearest working day, which was Friday, May 30.
Non-Wednesday recipients: June 2025 payments
- Fri., May 30: SSI recipients
- Tues., June 3: Social Sec. recipients since pre-May 1997
If a dual recipient: SSI paid on May 30, Social Security paid on June 3
