Social Security is sending out checks for $2,000 on average on Wednesday, June 25: discover who gets a payment
Many Americans on Social Security retirement benefits are due to get their latest monthly payout this week.
On Wednesday, June 25, the U.S.’s Social Security Administration (SSA) is to send out the next batch of retirement checks on this month’s payment schedule.
The SSA is also scheduled to issue Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and survivor benefits this Wednesday.
Who receives a Social Security check on Wednesday, June 25?
Of the nearly 70 million recipients of retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits in the U.S., most receive their money on one of three Wednesdays each month.
Each beneficiary’s designated Wednesday is determined by their date of birth.
On Wednesday this week, the SSA is to send out benefits checks to recipients whose birthday falls between the 21st and the 31st of each month.
This is the last of the SSA’s Wednesday payments for June, after the government agency also distributed benefits on the 11th and the 18th.
Wednesday payment schedule – June 2025:
- Wednesday, June 11: Beneficiaries born between 1st to 10th
- Wednesday, June 18: Beneficiaries born between 11th to 20th
- Wednesday, June 25: Beneficiaries born between 21st to 31st
Who is paid outside of the three-Wednesdays timeline?
If you started claiming retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits before May 1997, you are typically paid on the third of each month, irrespective of your date of birth.
What’s more, recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) – a separate SSA benefit for low-income individuals who are over 65 or have a disability – normally get their check on the first of each month.
If you receive both SSI and any of the SSA’s retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits, you generally get the former on the first and the latter on the third.
However, as June began on a Sunday, this month’s SSI checks were sent out early: payment was moved up to the nearest working day, which was Friday, May 30.
Non-Wednesday recipients: June 2025 payments
- Friday, May 30: SSI recipients
- Tuesday, June 3: Social Sec. beneficiaries since pre-May 1997
If a dual recipient: SSI paid on May 30, Social Security paid on June 3
