Stock Market Holiday: Are NSE, BSE open or closed on June 6 on account of Eid al-Adha?
According to the official holiday calendars of both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE, there will be no trading holiday on Friday, June 6.
While Bakri Eid is a gazetted holiday, it does not coincide with a scheduled trading holiday. Furthermore, Indian stock exchanges typically remain closed only on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and on designated public holidays listed at the beginning of each calendar year.
This year, June 7 falls on a Saturday, a non-trading day, which means the stock market is closed not due to the festive occasion, but on account of the regular weekend holiday.
As per the official holiday calendar on the National Portal of India, June 7 has been listed as a public holiday for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) in several states. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also marked June 6 or 7 as bank holidays in different states, depending on the local moon sighting and regional calendars.
Government offices and many businesses across the country will observe a holiday on June 7. However, investors should note that this has no impact on market trading hours, as markets are already closed on Saturdays.
