Stock Market Today: Dow futures slip ahead of release of key ISM manufacturing gauge
How are stock-index futures trading:
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 87 points, or 0.19%, to 44,969
S&P 500 futures fell 11..5 points, or 0.29%, to 6,040

On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 138 points, or 0.31%, to 44,722, the S&P 500 declined 23 points, or 0.38%, to 5,999, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 115 points, or 0.6%, to 19,060.
Stock futures fell on Monday morning on the back of an event-filled weekend, as investors braced themselves for publication of the Institute of Supply Management’s report on the state of America’s manufacturing sector in November at 10 a.m. Eastern.
Investors will, meanwhile, be processing news of events from the weekend, including Trump’s threats to place 100% tariffs on BRICS countries, Zelensky’s signal that Ukraine is open to ceasefire talks, and the sudden resurgence of civil conflict in Syria.
Notably, the weekend just passed also marked the second anniversary of the launch of artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, on Nov. 30 2022, which sparked a major rally in U.S. stocks, mainly led by the Magnificent Seven mega-cap technology giants.
The rally seemed to have continued last week, with the S&P 500 index hitting another new record on Friday on the back of a November surge that saw the index post its strongest monthly performance in 2024 so far.
