Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq futures slip as Wall Street's optimism on trade wears thin
US stock futures slipped as Wall Street’s recent optimism about the economy’s ability to weather President Trump’s tariffs began to wear thin.
Futures attached to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (YM=F), the benchmark S&P 500 (ES=F), and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) fell 0.1%.

On Wednesday, stocks were mixed as fresh data showed a dramatic slowdown in private sector hiring growth, prompting Trump to call on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates, as well as a contraction in the services sector. Taken together, the signals raised concerns that the economy is starting to feel the negative effects of the president’s sweeping tariffs.

On Thursday, Lululemon (LULU) and Broadcom (AVGO) will report their quarterly results as earnings season continues to wrap up. Investors will also receive weekly jobless claims data ahead of Friday’s release of the closely watched May jobs report.
