Cognizant To Invest Rs 1,582 Crore In Vizag IT Campus

Tech giant Cognizant is all set to establish a world-class IT/ITES campus in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam with an investment of Rs 1,582.98 crore. The move will give a huge push to Andhra Pradesh to establish itself as a tech hub in India.

The Andhra Pradesh government reportedly decided to allocate land for this project at just 99 paisa to Cognizant IT solutions. The project is expected to generate over 8,000 jobs, a TOI report said.

Cognizant’s Expansion Boosts Vizag’s IT Push

In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s growing IT ambitions, Cognizant has proposed a significant investment in Visakhapatnam by seeking 21.31 acres of land at Kapuluppada under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).

This move is being widely viewed as another feather in the cap for IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who has been actively pushing for tech investments and digital infrastructure across the state. Cognizant aims to begin commercial operations by March 2029, with the entire project being 100% self-funded, signaling the company’s long-term commitment to Andhra Pradesh.

The development not only underscores Vizag’s emergence as a key destination for IT investments but also strengthens the state’s positioning as a rising tech hub in India.
