Tech Stocks Power the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Higher
With the S&P 500 up 0.1%, roughly 330 of its stocks were lower. At the sector level, information technology was leading. It was followed by consumer staples and communication services. Materials, energy, health care, and financials were the biggest laggards.
The top S&P stocks were Super Micro Computer, United Airlines Holdings, and Walmart, but six of the Magnificent Seven stocks were on the rise. Nvidia was up 2.9% ahead of its earnings report tomorrow. It was followed by Tesla, up 2%, Amazon.com, up 0.8%, and Alphabet, up 0.8%. Apple and Meta were up 0.7% and 0.3%. Microsoft was the odd company out with a 0.6% decline.
